The 6-mile long fertile oasis beginning at Hassanabad contains small villages among terraced fields and is the center of the former state. Not far beyond Aliabad a link road branches uphill to the north of the KKH (Karakorum Highway)and is the direct way to Karimabad and Baltit (65 miles from Gilgit and ranging 500 feet up and down the hill at roughly 7,800 feet in elevation). Because of their inns and their spectacular location overlooking Rakaposhi and the green fields of Hunza and nagar, these two towns, Kareemabad in particular, function as the focus of Hunza for most visitors.

Just beyond 'Ganesh Village' below Kareemabad, the KKH (Karakorum Highway) crosses the Hunza river on a large, graceful bridge. This large rock has many carvings from different eras and in varying scripts. At Shiskot the KKH crosses the west side of the river and soon reaches Gulmit (about 8,000 feet). Hunza is an ideal place for mountaineering, trekking and hiking. Most treks in this valley are'nt particularly long ones but there are exceptions; the Hispar-Biafo walk and the hike to Shimshal are among such exceptions. Hunza genuinely offers an experience of a lifetime!

This is all hard to take in considering I just recently participated in the first ever Full Figured Fashion Week in NYC where the women were encouraged to flaunt their curves on the catwalk and the average model was a size 16/18. The fact is that in America alone, there are 40 million women over size 14, spending billion a year on clothing, or a quarter of all clothing sales, according to American Demographics. So why is one of the top selling fashion magazines like Vogue still featuring clothing on models that are a size zero? I'd love someone to answer that for me.

Another interesting fact is that many plus size clothing stores and websites still use models that are considered "straight size" rather than using "plus size" models. I searched the web and retailers such as J.Jill, Jessica London, Roamans, OneStopPlus, and Silhouettes fall into this category while offering plus size clothing starting at size 14W up to a 34W. How can a retailer offer plus size clothing to its customers effectively and not show it on a plus size woman is beyond me. Are they falling into the same situation as Vogue, where like the magazine, the retailers are receiving smaller samples from their manufacturers so therefore they are having to use smaller models? I know for a fact that this is not true since I have done fit modeling for numerous plus size manufacturers and retailers in my career and the average plus size fit model is a size 18. Needless-to-say the samples are made in a size 18, so this cannot be possible.

What is going on world? Can we get this right? It seems simple enough to me that as a retailer you should show your merchandise on "real size" models that are the same size as the women you are targeting. So to those retailers who offer plus size clothing such as J.Jill, Jessica London, Roamans, OneStopPlus, and Silhouettes, my name is Danielle Line and I am a plus size model that is a "real size" 14/16. The daily life of Acebuchal before the Spanish Civil War rotated roughly about the production of charcoal and limestone and husbandry. Moreover, Acebuchal was a meeting point for traveling merchants from the nearby villages; Torrox, Frigiliana and Nerja.  They loaded their mules up with fish, vegetables and fruit, which they carried over the mountains to the villages of Fornes & Jallena near Granada. Here they  sold or exchanged their products, bringing the flour and other products back.
 
Acebuchal was the place where the men let the mules rest, while they themselves got a piece of bread and a drink... and of course, exchanged travel experiences.

Almost 50 years passed before somebody returned for anything else but a short visit and a heavy nostalgic feeling at the sight of the ghost-village who had once been their home.
 
In 1998 the first house was renovated, in 2003 the village had electricity installed and in 2005 the village streets was completely renovated and the same year, on June 25, Acebuchal was re-inaugurated.

It was Antonio el Zumbo and his family who took the initiative and most of the houses have been very carefully renovated in the traditional rustic style. The white village houses are placed close together in the winding cobbled streets. There has been paid the utmost attention to the smallest details to create atmosphere, and everywhere there are flowers and fertile green succulents. Antonio and his family owns half of the village houses, which now can be rented as holiday homes. The new Acebuchal has several small pools, so holidaymakers can enjoy a cool swim.

The area is ideal for hikers, nature lovers, riding horses, writers, painters and those who just love to sit outdoors year round and enjoy the scenic surroundings. However - it only takes a 15 minute scenic drive to reach the village of Frigiliana with many restaurants and shops. Acebuchal is a microscopically small village, or rather a collection of houses situated in a very peaceful, beautiful valley inside the National Park ... surrounded by fragrant pine trees, thyme and rose marin ... and the village is no longer abandoned ... it has been renovated and occupied.
